Fanny was two years my senior. She often dressed in white with lacework about her neck, and with a glorious curving figure that would require a casual observer to give copious thought to the handiwork of God. She would carelessly brush against me in passing in the hall, her chestnut hair trailing an aroma of musky jasmine – and some indefinable woman-scent. I would catch my breath and turn to watch her, wondering what spirit had possessed me.

How I Began Writing Fiction

I have been writing since I was very young. Stories about my dogs and their secret lives, a creative writing contest in high school for Kiwanis which I won, science fiction stories, and finally in 2004 a memoir which I published as a book.
